Add a grounded surge protector between your outdoor antenna and connected equipment. Featuring SMA male and SMA female connectors, this unit is intended for compatible 50 Ω antenna systems, including mobile signal boosters, receivers and wireless equipment.
The protector uses a gas discharge tube, GDT, with a stated nominal DC spark-over voltage of 90 V. When a sufficiently high overvoltage occurs, the tube becomes conductive and can divert current through a correctly connected grounding path. The GDT element is replaceable, allowing maintenance according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
The stated frequency range extends up to 3 GHz. It can therefore be used with compatible mobile frequency bands and 2.4 GHz WiFi, but does not cover 3.5 GHz 5G or 5 GHz WiFi.
The housing is made from nickel-plated brass, with a separate grounding terminal on the enclosure. Threaded SMA connectors allow connection within an existing antenna feed using matching connectors.
Correct grounding is essential for operation. The unit supplements the installation’s surge protection and does not guarantee protection against a direct lightning strike.
✅ Benefits
- SMA male to SMA female – connects to compatible standard SMA connectors.
- Separate grounding terminal – connects to the installation’s grounding system.
- GDT technology – gas discharge tube for surge diversion.
- Replaceable protection element – supports maintenance according to manufacturer instructions.
- 50 Ω impedance – for compatible antenna and RF systems.
- Frequency support up to 3 GHz – includes 2.4 GHz WiFi.
- Nickel-plated brass housing – metal construction for fixed installation.
🎯 Ideal for
- Mobile signal boosters with external antennas, within the specified frequency range.
- Compatible 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G bands below 3 GHz.
- 2.4 GHz WLAN and WiFi installations with standard SMA connections.
- GPS and RF receiver systems, subject to electrical compatibility.
🔧 Connection and use
Install the protector in the antenna feed between the outdoor antenna and equipment, following the manufacturer’s instructions. Connect the SMA male connector to a matching SMA female port and the SMA female connector to an SMA male cable connector.
Connect the grounding terminal to the installation’s designated grounding and bonding system. Have a knowledgeable installer assess placement and grounding arrangements.
Check frequency range, power rating and any DC pass-through capability before connection. This is particularly important for active antennas powered through the coaxial cable.
Protect exposed connections against moisture. Inspect and replace the GDT element according to the manufacturer’s service instructions.
